About JIHAN
Many ethnic groups live in China today, but only one has made a decisive and positive contribution to the country’s civilization throughout history: the Han people. For example, the English word “China” derives from the Qin Dynasty, a dynasty established by the Han people. However, even the Qin Dynasty is notorious in Han people’s history for its brutal rule. The great dynasties that the Han people truly take pride in are the Zhou Dynasty—which was overthrown by the Qin, and the Han Dynasty—which overthrew the Qin.
The current name for the Han people derives from the Han Dynasty. Furthermore, since the rulers of the Zhou Dynasty bore the surname Ji, the combined term “Ji-Han” represents the Han people’s orthodox culture.
Regrettably, far too many people around the world are unaware of China’s real culture, leading to numerous misunderstandings. I hope to use this website to introduce aspects of Han culture and help the world gain a better understanding.
